W hen I was hiking in the Austria Alps 2 weeks ago, I was listening to the audio book โ€œRising Strongโ€ of Brenรฉ Brown (Yes, I am a big fan of her and have listened to 3 of her books).

At the end of the book, she quoted the 10 Guideposts for Wholehearted Living. When I heard it, I felt such strong resonance that I literally stood still on the very narrow path by the lakeside! ๐Ÿ’–

Yes, thatโ€™s exactly what I am following now in my life as a professional coach:

๐Ÿ”† I am showing my authentic self and authenticity is part of my core values. I do not need to wear armours or masks to pretend to be a someone else.
๐Ÿ”† I am not striving for perfectionism, I am embracing my imperfections. I know that we learn most from our mistakes. By doing so I also allow others to show their vulnerabilities and we build stronger connections.
๐Ÿ”† I do not avoid uncomfortable emotions, because I know under each unpleasant emotion there is an unmet need. I prioritize self-care so that I know how to be with and regulate them. By doing so, I am also able to hold a safe space for whatever uncomfortable emotions coming up from my clients.

๐Ÿ”† I am doing gratitude journaling daily to build up stronger neuropathways in my brain so that I am focusing more on the positive things every day.
๐Ÿ”† In the nowadays ever-changing world, it would only create more anxiety if we stick to certainty, so I lean into my intuition and trust our greater good โ€“ the universal intelligence will guide me in my path. If we stay curious and open-minded, we will notice the synchronicity as a signpost from the Universe.
๐Ÿ”† Comparison kills creativity, instead of comparing, I let myself inspired by the others and learn from them.
๐Ÿ”† We donโ€™t have to be productive to earn our self-worth. Our identity is not defined by our title, income or status. Our being is as important as our doing, which also has an impact in the world. Play and rest is part of our self-care, which helps us cultivate more creativity and positivity.
๐Ÿ”† Our human brains are not wired to deal with the complexity and information overload of the current world. So we need to have quiet time and space to stay calm to prevent burnout. Daily mindfulness practice is an excellent way to reset and recharge ourselves.
๐Ÿ”† Having self-doubt is normal, especially when you are doing something new and stepping out of your comfort zone. Our brains want us to have immediate gratification through external validations. But if you are honouring your values while creating meaningful work, such sense of joy and fulfilment will help you overcome any self-doubts that you may have.
๐Ÿ”† We can not control othersโ€™ thoughts, emotions, actions; and we cannot change the past and predict the future, so be with the present. Make the best of every day with laughter, beautiful music and free dance.

What are your takeaways from the guidepost?
What is the tiny change you are going to make, starting from this weekend, today so that you can live more wholeheartedly?

Itโ€™s never too late to start a change that will lead you into a completely new future, new life!
